But like.. Santana was speaking of High School in the past tense.. so her saying that Brittany “didn’t count because she was in love with her”, is the correct phrasing since she’s speaking about the past. But that also doesn’t mean that she’s not in love with her now.. you know? For example, if i said “I had friends but Blair doesn’t count because i was in love with her. She wasn’t just a friend”, I’m still in love with her now, but since i was specifically speaking about a past time, i would use the past tense verb.. does that make sense? I just.. don’t want anyone to take that WAS as an indicator of anything. It’s just a weird grammar rule.
